Rye YMCA Expands Early Childhood Programs with New Full-Day Child Care in Mamaroneck
MAMARONECK, NY – Responding to the growing need for accessible, high-quality child care, the Rye YMCA is launching a new full-day Early Learning Center in Mamaroneck this September. Located at the Westchester Jewish Center (WJC) at Rockland and Palmer Avenues, the program will serve children ages 18 months to 5 years and offer a nurturing, curriculum-based environment designed to support early development.
The new center complements the Y’s full-day Early Learning Center in Rye, which is currently at capacity with a waitlist, and its morning nursery school program at St. John’s (122 Fenimore Rd, Mamaroneck). With the addition of the WJC location, families now have flexible options for both full-day and half-day care.
“The Rye Y’s goal has always been to support families in every way we can,” said Kathy Lynam, Senior Program Director. “We’re proud to offer more child care options that give families peace of mind, knowing their children are safe, learning, and having fun.” The WJC site will operate from 8:00am to 4:00pm with evening care until 6:00pm available Monday through Thursday. Children enrolled will enjoy access to an indoor multi-purpose room for sports, a sensory room, and multiple outdoor playgrounds.
Families seeking a shorter day may opt for the nursery school at St. John’s, which runs from 8:45 to 11:30am and includes similar age-appropriate activities in a warm, welcoming setting.
Both programs offer flexible enrollment options of 3, 4, or 5 days per week, giving families the ability to choose what works best for their schedules. Each program emphasizes YMCA core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility—and follows a curriculum-based approach that nurtures social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
“The Rye Y Board and staff are deeply committed to addressing our community’s needs through thoughtful strategic planning,” said Sabrina Murphy, Rye YMCA CEO. “The expansion of our early childhood programs in Mamaroneck reflects both the guidance of our board leaders and our shared vision to support families with high-quality, affordable, and inclusive child care options.”
Need-based financial assistance is available to ensure that every family has access to quality early childhood education.
Enrollment is now open for both Mamaroneck programs
