April 29, 2026

Rye, NY — April 26, 2026 — Hundreds of runners, walkers, families, and community members gathered on Sunday morning for the 38th Annual Rye Derby and Healthy Kids Day. Contrary to the forecast, the sun made a welcome appearance, adding to a festive morning filled with races, activities, and community spirit.

Following tradition, Rye Mayor Josh Nathan kicked off the 5M race and the 5K Run/Walk and NYS Assemblyman Steve Otis started the 1M Family Fun Run/Walk. Back in the Y’s parking lot, families and runners enjoyed Healthy Kids Day activities, including complimentary food, music, face painting, bounce houses, sports samplers, and vendor giveaways.

“There’s so much energy and enthusiasm around this event,” observed Rye Y CEO Sabrina Murphy. “We love bringing people of all ages and abilities together for a good cause and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it happen.”

Started by three-time Olympian Eamonn Coghlan, the Rye Derby raises funds for the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program, which provides summer camp, childcare, program, and membership subsidies to those who need the Y most.
