Rye Derby & Healthy Kids Day 2025

Hundreds of runners, walkers, families, and community members gathered on Sunday morning, April 27, for the 37th Annual Rye Derby and Healthy Kids Day. Under breezy spring skies, participants of all ages enjoyed races, complimentary food, music, face painting, bounce houses sports samplers, vendor giveaways and more.
The 5M race and 5K Run/Walk were officially kicked off by Rye Mayor Josh Cohn, while New York State Assemblyman Steve Otis started the 1M Family Fun Run/Walk, which for the first time included a lively Dog Parade.
Healthy Kids Day offered kids the chance to engage in fun activities, while the Rye Derby challenged runners and walkers across all ages and experience levels.
Proceeds from the event support the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program, helping to ensure the Rye YMCA remains accessible to all through camp, childcare, program and membership subsidies.
“This event truly captures the spirit of our community—vibrant, active, and welcoming to all,” said Sabrina Murphy, CEO of the Rye YMCA. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported the Y’s mission.”
