Rye Y Story Project: Vicki H.

VickieHMy family and I joined the Y in June 2018 when we moved here from Cork, Ireland. I didn’t know anybody. And now I love to come in and hear everyone say good morning; we are always greeted by a familiar face at the front desk.

I bring my kids to the Y’s Child Watch or Tot Drop every week. Araseli is my sanity saver! The women in Child Watch love our children and are always excited to see them. I’m delighted that I get to come to the gym or take one of the fantastic classes, knowing my kids are happy downstairs.

Our son, age 2 ½, does gymnastics on Wednesday mornings and it is the first thing he asks for every Wednesday. Both our children are learning to swim here at the Y. Our daughter loves her lessons with Jessica. They are excited to spend another summer at the amazing camps the Y offers.

The Y is one of my favorite places. We joke and say this is our church. This is where we come for a sense of belonging. Now when I meet people who move here I say, “you have to go and join the Rye Y”.
