I came to the Rye YMCA about 16 years ago when I got my first part-time job in the Child Watch room or as it was called back then, babysitting room. I lived in the area and Elissa asked me if I was interested in a small part-time job so I said “Yes, why not!” and I’ve been here ever since.
I have three children and back then, my youngest was two, maybe three years old and I loved the fact that I was able to bring him with me to work. Being a stay-at-home mom, I loved that I was able to have him near me while still interacting with other children and also being around adults. I was getting tired of the baby conversations and it helped me get back into normal adult conversations and relationships. The YMCA has allowed me to make many great connections; I am still in touch with Sue, Chiara, Gina and many more who still work here.
I love the sense of family you get when you’re here. There is a great sense of community and again that key word relationship. The front desk staff is always so welcoming. They engage in great conversations with everyone that walks through those doors. They truly care about our members.
