I’ve been a member 22 years, so the Y and I have been through a lot. It’s been a place for my children and I to exercise and socialize. At the Y, I have access to people of all ages, children to adults and I really value that. Some days I work from home and that can be a bit isolating. When it’s overwhelming, I can come to the Y and see friendly faces and people I know.
I hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc a couple years ago for my 60th birthday, which is one of the most beautiful and most difficult hiking tours. Laura Laura prepared me for the hike and I have very specific memories of her getting me ready for the challenge.
Last year I started a routine where I would get into the sauna two to three times a week for 30 minutes. And that was a very interesting experience. People talk in the sauna. I’ve had great conversations with women in the sauna.
At the moment I love J.T.’s TRX classes. And I take yoga and go to the gym. But it’s more than just a place to exercise. It has such a feel-good [vibe]. I had just a short workout today, but that’s all I really need—that little thing to get back in touch with my body and get my energy level up a little bit. It’s great!
