I have spent about 40 years at the Y, from when I was 19 years old and I joined the Plainview, CT Y. While working at Xerox Education Publications, I moved to the Middletown Y, followed by the West Brook Y when I moved to Old Saybrook and then the Westport Y when I change jobs. I joined the Rye Y in 2002 after a 6-year hiatus.
In 2012, I retired and made a promise to myself to come to the Y to swim every day. I’m now swimming one mile a day. I usually go for a walk at SUNY Purchase in the morning, but with the weather getting colder, I’ll move to the fitness center here.
The staff is extremely helpful and nice. They call everyone by name. I like seeing the people I know from the pool in town.
