During my junior year at Boston University, I became very sick and was bedridden for over 2 weeks. I lost 20 pounds and lots of muscle tone. I wanted to regain my health and strength but would be starting from zero. My boyfriend introduced me to the Rye Y and it made a big impact in my life. I started training with Laura Laura and worked out here during my school breaks.
At BU, I was a psychology major and also took several courses in nutrition. My experience at the Y reinforced my interest in health and wellness. After graduating, I applied for a position as a floor trainer and started working here. I became certified as a personal trainer and a LIVESTRONG at the YMCA coach. I also currently teach our Power Up class. I love connecting with members and developing strong relationships. You are here for the community – people here really care.
