Mamaroneck Health Fair to Provide Screenings, Exhibits and Fun

On Saturday, June 6, Sound Shore residents will have access to healthcare providers, screenings and vital information about health and well-being at the 2nd Annual Access to Care Fair. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mamaroneck from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

During the course of the day, community members can take advantage of a range of health screenings, including blood pressure checks, vision exams, HIV testing, breast cancer and diabetes risk screening and more. Although the fair will be held in the church’s large community room, exams or testing that require privacy will be conducted in classrooms. A dental van will be on site to provide exams for adults and children. In addition to the screenings, children can enjoy games, healthy snacks, interactive exhibits and other activities while parents consult with healthcare providers. Bilingual volunteers and healthcare providers will be available for Spanish-speaking residents.

The Access to Care Fair is organized by the Rye YMCA and the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hispanic Resource Center, leaders of Healthier Mamaroneck and Mamaroneck Cares. Major sponsors include: Open Door Family Medical Centers, Affinity Health Plan, Lexus of Larchmont, United HealthCare, and White Plain Hospital.

At the first Access to Care Fair, held in June 2014 at Mamaroneck Avenue School, nearly 400 screenings were conducted for an estimated 200 attendees.

St. Thomas Church is located at 168 West Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck. For additional information about the Access to Care Fair, community members may call: (914) 835-1512.
