As part of a month-long celebration focusing on active older adults, the Rye Y hosted a Senior Wellness Day on May 13. The event was free and open to the community. Laura Tiedge, Rye Y’s Senior Director of Healthy Living, kicked-off the day’s activities with a discussion on the nine dimensions of well-being and helped participants identify strategies for improving their own wellness.
After a provided lunch, participants had the opportunity to sample several classes including Stretch, Tai Chi, Melt, Functional Fitness, Move or Groove, Enhance Fitness and Chair Yoga.
Several events for older adults took at the Rye Y in May, including three weekly brown bag lunches covering the topics of Estate Planning, Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body and Aging in Place. Other presentations included Caregiver’s Day, Nutritious Cooking for One or Two and a Senior Tech Workshop.
