Support the Rye Y and All of Rye’s Businesses and NonProfits
Rye’s Up is a Chamber of Commerce online initiative to support Rye’s businesses and nonprofits during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Rye YMCA, like many of our local businesses and nonprofit organizations, has been hit hard by the stay-at-home mandate due to the coronavirus. With the loss of program and membership revenues, the Rye Y is asking for your support so we can re-open stronger than ever.
Our Y Cares Financial Assistance program allows us to keep our doors open to all. In 2019, we awarded nearly $437,000 in financial assistance to 317 individuals and families who needed a helping hand.
We anticipate that the need will be much greater in 2020. Families who are dealing with job loss will need scholarships to send their children to camp or to our licensed afterschool program as they return to work. Adults dealing with chronic diseases may need assistance to participate in our Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program or the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program. More than three-fourths of COVID-19 patients who required ICU treatment in the US had underlying health issues. Our evidence-based programs are vital to serving the community. Seniors who have been isolated for weeks (and possibly months) may need membership subsidies to maintain their membership.

The Rye Y will waive the joiner’s fee for new members who join in the first month after we re-open AND who mention “Rye’s Up.”
