Our Mission

The Rye YMCA is a family-oriented community service organization which welcomes all people and promotes positive values through programs that build spirit, mind, and body.

Helping people of all ages and abilities to develop health in spirit, mind and body is at the core of the YMCA movement.  Our programs are designed to help people create realistic goals for self improvement through regular exercise, proper nutrition, stress management and health education.  There are over 200,000 visits per year to our Y facility by health seeking teens, adults and seniors. In addition, through our outreach initiatives, we actively promote community wide wellness by offering programs and services that would otherwise not be available. Most importantly, the Y works to ensure that our programs and services remain accessible to all through a variety of on-going philanthropic endeavors. Our primary cause is to strengthen the missionfoundation of community through a focus on three areas: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. At the Rye Y, no one is turned away because of an inability to pay. Thanks to the generosity of donors, fundraising special events, grants, foundations, and hundreds of volunteers, the Rye Y delivers free, subsidized or sponsored programs and services to thousands of Sound Shore residents each year, ensuring the availability of the Y’s benefits to those most in need.

We accomplish our mission-focused work by providing:

•Financial Aid: allows hundreds of kids, adults, and families to attend summer camp and enjoy the spirit mind and body programs of the Y. •Program Subsidies: support important programs/services such as community special events and pool time, child care, and teen initiatives. •Community Outreach: extends the mission of the Y beyond our facility (e.g., edible gardens, Safe Routes to School, school recess, Healthy Kids Day)
