Philanthropy: Giving Back to the Community
Serving the needs of the community is the driving force behind all we do everyday at the Rye Y. As a community center, we work hard to provide programs and services that allow members to improve their health while fostering connections with each other -- in a safe, caring and welcoming environment. Our ability to accomplish this would not be possible without the help of volunteers, donors and Board members who so graciously give of their time, resources and continued caring spirit.
In 2009, over $380,000 was generously provided to the Rye Y through the Strong Kids annual campaign, grants, and fundraising special events such as the Derby, Barefoot Bash and golf outing. Through your helping hands and continued generosity, the Rye Y was able to fulfill its promise of keeping its doors open and welcoming to all by delivering $460,000 in community benefit in the form of financial assistance awards; program subsidies such as community pool time and the Teen Center; and for outreach activities that include Safe Routes to School and edible gardens. Though 2009 was a tough year for our community, the Y staff worked harder than ever to provide for those in need. That’s our mission; that’s the Y.
